ChattieKat, DVM

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that Cruella was squinting her left eye. I looked closely at it a number of times but never could see anything. When I took her to UT for surgery last week, I mentioned it to them. They looked at it, couldn’t see anything wrong, and didn’t want to [...]

Miss Cruella’s Colon Cleanse

Cruella came home yesterday morning. Her incision is huge, stretching the entire length of her abdomen. She was in a lot of pain, as her Addison’s Disease prevented the doctors from prescribing a strong pain medication. She spent the majority of the day resting. I am happy to say that she feels much better today. [...]

A Sigh of Relief

I spent the majority of the day at UT Vet Hospital.  I’m both physically and emotionally drained, but I do have good news to share!  Cruella’s surgery went exceptionally well.  When the doctors opened her up, they discovered that the mass was smaller than originally thought.  It was very quick and easy to remove, and [...]

The Night Before Surgery

Miss Cruella checked into the hospital this morning. It was so difficult to leave her there, even though I know she’s in the best of hands. I visited her after work, and she was doing very well. Her surgery is scheduled for 11:00 tomorrow morning. My heart is now aching. I miss my sweet girl, [...]

Vol Dogs

I’m not a big fan of UT football, but the dogs are. Check out Molly sporting her brand new collar. Don’t worry – Cruella got one too. We even have a matching leash!

Miss Cruella’s Upcoming Surgery

As I mentioned in my last post, Cruella will be undergoing abdominal surgery next week. She will check into the hospital on Tuesday morning for prep work, and the surgery will be performed the following day. I spoke with her regular vet as well as two veterinary oncologists at UT today, and the consensus was [...]

A Haiku for You

Facing surgery The vet gives an estimate My pocketbook weeps My pocketbook and I have been in tears for the past year and a half, but today was a particularly traumatizing day. Cruella will be undergoing surgery next week – surgery that has been estimated at $1,600 – $1,800. As I scheduled the procedure, I [...]

Cruella’s Newest Challenge

As many of you know, Cruella had a large malignant tumor removed from her abdomen last March. She also had several mast cell tumors removed from underneath her skin. She has had regular oncology visits since that time. Last November, a new mast cell tumor appeared and was removed. Since that time, there has been [...]

Overheard at the Vet’s Office #3

What did one vet tech say to the other while taking Cruella for a walk on the grassy strip behind the clinic? “Watch out for the landmines!”

28 Days Later

Time sure does fly. Today marks 28 days since I took Cruella to the ER at the University of Tennessee. During her stay, she was diagnosed with treatment induced Addison’s Disease, compliments of the Lysodren she had been taking. After getting her through the Addisonian Crisis, UT prescribed daily Prednisone as well as monthly Percorten [...]
