36 Sure Feels a Lot Like 35!

My buddy Andrew turned 36 on June 2nd. He recently blogged about the memory loss he had experienced since that day, and with my 36th birthday quickly approaching, I decided that I’d better skip it.

I’ve always had a sharp memory. In the mid to late 1990s, I handled payroll for a book store chain. We had about 100 stores throughout the country, and we referred to each one with a number as well as location. You could name any employee on our payroll, and I could immediately tell you which store number he worked at. Jonathan Farr? Store 473!

If I read something, I can remember where it is located in the book. Approximately half way through the book, right hand page, last paragraph!

I’m sure you can understand my hesitance to celebrate my 36th birthday. So last Sunday I woke up and quickly rushed to the calendar. Holy crap! It was June 29th! I had officially turned 36. So much for skipping this monumental birthday!

I made the best of the day though. I had pizza and birthday cake. And my best friend made the day extra special for me, as he has done so many times in the past. I’m happy to say that the day was fantastic, and so far, 36 feels a lot like 35! My memory is as sharp as ever!

It’s now July 5th. I can’t believe I waited so long to write this post. I really meant to do it earlier…

but I forgot.

A Few of My Favorite Things

For those of you who may be worrying your pretty little heads about what to get me for my upcoming birthday, worry no more. I’ve compiled a short list of some of my favorite material possessions.

Bracelets – I don’t wear a lot of other jewelry, but I am fascinated by bracelets. I have a huge collection of them – mostly fun, colorful designs.
Movies – I haven’t counted my DVDs lately, but I’m sure I have more than 300 titles. I especially like sets from my favorite TV shows and animated flicks such as Cars, Brother Bear, and The Lion King.
Stuffed animals – I just can’t resist beanie babies and other cuddly stuffed toys!
Wind chimes – I absolutely adore the sound of wind chimes. There is nothing more beautiful and relaxing.
Cars memorabilia – It’s true. I just can’t get enough of Lightning McQueen and his friends!

Of course, there’s no need for you to go spend all that dough. I’d be far happier with something that money just can’t buy – like a hot date with Denis Leary!

10: His “When I was a kid” lectures to his daughter are getting that much more potent.

9: Thanks to the subtle effects of low-level light, fluctuations of temperature and humidity, and the degrading/fermentation of fruits and yeasts, Brico’s flavors and finish are maturing and developing. Seriously, he’s up to like $75/bottle.

8: He no longer wets the bed.

7: Involuntarily.

6: If he were 20 years younger Tish wouldn’t be allowed to date him by law.

5: Thanks to wisdom coming with age, Brico’s almost bright enough to avoid crowds of the ilk that subject you to gross ‘net harassment.

4: If he were 10 years younger Tish wouldn’t want to date him.

Today is my 34th birthday, and I couldn’t be happier. It has been a great day!

At midnight last night, Brico called and sang Happy Birthday to me. And check out the beautiful flowers he sent! I’ll post another pic once they have finished opening.

I know that I mention Brico a lot on my blog, but he really is the best thing to happen to me in a very long time. I’m a lucky gal indeed!

As you all know, I have a weird fascination with A&W Root Beer. Kevin gave me a rockin’ A&W mug. Now if only it were filled with that ice cold, sweet nectar of the Gods!

I got lots of birthday cards and messages, and being the sentimental person I am, I was touched by each and every one. Thanks to you all!
