As I mentioned a while back, I love Doctors Foster and Smith. When I heard about their Doctor’s Choice Sale recently, I decided to browse the dog products that are up to 20% off. That’s when I ran across this item.

I have never understood why dogs eat their own feces, or even worse – another dog’s feces! Still, I couldn’t resist clicking the photo for more information. That’s when I found this.

I’ll admit that I had to laugh. By their very nature, shouldn’t feces already taste awful to dogs?
If you have the misfortune of owning a pup that prefers turds à la carte to filet mignon, you may want to pick up a bottle of Dis-Taste while it’s on sale. Be sure to also check out Stool Eating: How to Break the Habit by the Doctors Foster and Smith Educational Staff.

That is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life. Your phrase, “turds a la carte” still has me giggling. I guess I never really grew up, because when I show this to my teenage boys tomorrow I suspect they will laugh their butts off.

Hah. Your poop-related posts are always my favorite, Tish! This one is awesome. But I have to admit. I am seriously curious what these things taste like??! Poop has to taste revolting, so how gross do these tablets taste?!?!?

Maddie & Daisy like to eat cat poop. Wonder if it works on that too? We don’t have a cat but when we walk around the subdivison they seem to sniff it out of the grass. Ick!!

Uber – Apparently I never grew up either. As Andrew stated above, “poop-related posts” have become quite plentiful at The Kat House. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who cracks up at this stuff!
Leigh – I have no idea. I searched the website and didn’t see a similar product for cats. You should email them to see! I’ve never really heard of cats engaging in that kind of behavior. I’ve been tempted to buy these tablets for a few humans I know!
Andrew – Glad I could make you laugh! You should pick up a bottle, taste them, and then give us a full report!
Flat Coke – According to the info on the website, you have to give the tablets to the animal whose poop is being eaten. So this, unfortunately, wouldn’t solve your problem – unless you give it to the neighborhood cats! hehe.

[...] I have to eat two tablets each morning and two each night for 10 days. Given their pink color, I figured they would be strawberry flavored. I couldn’t have been more wrong. They taste more revolting than I could have ever imagined. In fact, I can think of only one thing that may taste worse – dog turds seasoned with a dash of Dis-Taste! [...]

I had a dog that used to do that a lot. Several people told me that you could add MSG to his food and it would discourage fecal munching. I assume this means there are very few Chinese dogs eating poop.
