As part of my Total Money Makeover, I’ve been looking at ways to save money on veterinary expenses. A few weeks ago, I realized that I could save quite a bit of money by ordering the dogs’ flea control and heartworm preventive through Doctors Foster and Smith. I ordered a six pack of Interceptor and a three pack of Frontline Plus and saved about $21 from what I had been paying at the vet’s office. That’s an annual savings of over $122 on just those two medications!
Today I asked the vet to write a prescription for the Percorten injection that Cruella currently receives every 24 days. I’ve been paying $133 per injection at the vet’s office. By ordering through Doctors Foster and Smith, I will be paying $93.49 per injection. I can give the shots myself and save almost $600 annually. Or I can have the vet to administer the injection for a fee of $18 each. That would drop the annual savings to about $322. I think I’ll have the vet to give a few more injections, and then I may take over the responsibility.
I just recently got refills on Cruella’s Thyrozine and Prednisone, but I’m going to start getting those from Doctors Foster and Smith when it comes time to reorder. I will save over $169 annually on those two medications.
I wish I had started ordering these meds online sooner. I can save almost $900 per year! If you have pets, be sure to do a price comparison to see if you can save money too. And for added savings, my buddy Andrew has some great Doctors Foster and Smith coupon codes.

Rick – Awesome! Be sure to use those coupon codes! There’s one out out there for $5 off any order, and there’s another one for $10 off a $100 order. But there are new ones that go up periodically too. Doctors Foster and Smith always gives free shipping on Rx items too! Mine arrived in just a couple of days. Good luck!

My apologies, Tish! I saw this the other day and have barely had a chance to breathe, let alone comment on it. Thank you so much for the shout-out and link love. And I’m glad you’re saving that much money with Drs. Foster & Smith! Even without coupons, you’re saving a fortune!

This is so funny. I found you yesterday via the SPHR post, and today I find out that you’re ALSO doing the TMMO. Awesome.
Been working “the plan” since this time last year. Currently on Baby Step 6. Loving it.

Psst, I know this is off topic, but I’m just commenting to let you know of my new blog. Long story, you may be able to tell who I am from my email address! But basically my new blog and old one must have no link to each other! That’s why I’m acting all mysterious. It is going to be so embarrassing for me if you don’t know who this is xD
