I got Molly’s lab results back today, and she is negative for the typical form of Cushing’s Disease! Not only that, but the atypical Cushing’s is responding very well to treatment! She will continue her current course of treatment - melatonin and flaxseed oil with lignans. I will take her to the vet only for her regular exams and vaccinations unless there are any problems.
I got some good news about Cruella as well. As you know, she has hypothyroidism, which the doctors feel is probably related to the Cushing’s Disease. Oftentimes, once the Cushing’s is being treated, the thyroid condition goes away. Cruella started on .5 mg of Thyrozine twice a day. A few months ago, the dosage reduced to .4 mg twice a day. And now that she is being treated for Cushing’s, her dosage has dropped to .3 mg twice a day! Her thyroid levels will be tested again in three weeks, and it’s very possible that she will be able to stop taking Thyrozine completely at that time.
Cruella’s recent ACTH stim test showed cortisol levels within the normal range, but they were slightly higher than they were at the end of the induction period. The doctors want to check her levels again in two weeks just to make sure that they have leveled off and aren’t continuing to rise. If they are rising, her lysodren dosage will be increased and she will go back for a stim test every six months. If the cortisol levels are approximately the same as on her recent test, her dosage will stay the same, and she will go back every six months for another stim.
Cruella’s six month cancer checkup is coming up at the end of August. I am praying for another good report like the last couple she has had. Things seem to finally be settling down with both dogs’ health. With any luck, it will stay that way. Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers!

So glad to hear this.
I’m still keeping them both in my thoughts and prayers.
