Too Many Assholes to Count

My mission to count the number of times the word “asshole” appeared in Rescue Me was a failure. I realized about halfway through Season 1 that my total was grossly understated. It was like trying to count the number of times I blinked my eyes.

I finished up Season 1, and I’m now working on Season 2. I’ve been watching this show since it first debuted, so I’ve seen every episode before. But I wanted to start back at the beginning and watch them all again in preparation for the upcoming start of Season 5. Looks like I’ll make it with plenty of time to spare. Sadly, FX has announced that the Season 5 has been delayed due to the writer’s strike. Instead of starting this month as it usually does, the new season is slated for April 2009! According to the FX website, they plan to hold us over with 10 weekly “minisodes” beginning this Tuesday, June 24th. Each minisode will last a whopping 5 minutes! The silver lining, if you can indeed call it that, is that instead of the usual 13 episodes, Season 5 will be a full 22 episodes! Maybe that makes the wait a little more bearable.

LOL. You crack me up, Tish! I was thinking this was an interesting project for you to be counting the number of times the word “asshole” appeared in a show that seems to use that word quite a bit. But I guess that was a REALLY ambitious challenge. My hubby loves to watch Rescue Me too. I thinik the minisodes are kind of a stupid idea but it must be the network’s way of trying to keep people interested. But seriously, five minutes? Sheesh. I don’t know too many people who are going to stop whatever they are doing to watch five minutes of a show (well not too many besides you and my hubby, probably - LOL). Anyway, it was a creative idea you had - now if we could just get you to use that power for the good of mainkind! ;)

that should say mankind, not mainkind. But I’m sure the mainkind are good too. LOL. I’m overtired. It’s almost 3:00 a.m. Off to bed I go! :)
