A Wii for Me?

My brother Jake lived with me from 2000 - 2003, and we’d occasionally challenge each other to a video game.  He had several gaming systems and was addicted to sports games, while I preferred games like Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog.  I haven’t played a video game since he moved out.  Being only a casual player though, I never really missed it - until now.  I see commercials for the Nintendo Wii all the time, and I’ve started to think I might want one.  Of course, unless I can teach Molly and Cruella to play, I’ll be playing by myself.  Anyone have any game suggestions for me?

I’m not sure what kind of games your into but I just got Cabela’s Big Game Hunter. I really like it and it’s pretty easy to figure out it’s one of those that you can play by yourself and keep yourself amused for awhile.

P.S. I found your blog on blogcatalog.

You don’t have to play by yourself. You can play against other opponents online….with certain games.

    Mario Kart Wii anyone?

I have a Wii, along with the Xbox, XBox 360, and PS2.

One thing to note, if games come out for all the consoles, Wii normally has the worst version. Also, games like Guitar Hero / Rock Band with downloadable content do not have that as an option for the Wii.

The Wii is pretty fun though with the right games. If you want to borrow any or come over and check it out first hand, just drop me an email.

I second Mario Kart Wii, coming out this Sunday. Several stores have said they are going to have the consoles in stock on Sunday morning - specifically I’ve seen Toys R Us and Circuit City ads making those claims.

MKW will let you play with 16 people online.

TGH and I have an xbox, a Playstation 2 (I won’t let him get a PS3 yet anyway), and a Wii, plus Guitar Hero and Rock Band. If you think you’d like music go with Rock Band, because that has the drums and microphone, not just the guitar. The Wii is a lot of fun and can help get you up and moving around in bad weather. If you like the Sonic and Mario Brothers types of games, the Wii may be for you - I love mine. Also, the Wii plays the Nintendo Gamecube games also (you will need to buy a special controller but they are readily available).

Since you asked… We have a Wii. It’s tons of fun- very interactive, up-out-of-your-chair kind of stuff. You can play alone, too. We’re not video game people, but we love the Wii. Wii also has Mario Brothers, and I can only imagine how much fun that is. In May, Nintendo is releasing Wii Fitness. It has a pad that you stand on- it can track your weight (but it won’t tell you unless you want to know). It will tell you if you are gaining or losing weight. You can do nifty stuff like hoola hoop, ski, etc. Scott’s previewed it at a meeting. It’s a great way to get exercise.

I’ve played a few times on Wii’s and am soon going to get one myself - once I’ve played GTA4 a bit that is!

    June it is then! :)
