I have somehow managed to get through my adult life without an electric can opener. My hand crank opener has worked just fine all these years. And with more and more cans coming with pull top lids, I’ve been in no hurry to make the upgrade from manual to electric.
As I was out shopping the other day, I stumbled across a sale on electric openers - only $5! I think I paid more for my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome inducing opener. I just couldn’t resist. Now there’s a shiny new electric can opener sitting on my kitchen counter. There’s just one problem.
This thing sounds like a jet taking off. Or perhaps qualifying at Daytona International Speedway. I used it for the first time yesterday, and it woke the entire neighborhood. I wouldn’t be surprised if it woke the dead.
I have just one question. Is Carpal Tunnel really that bad?

I only got my first electric can opener a few months back when I saw a bargain at Amazon.
Amazing it’s taken me so long, I’ve wanted one ever since I saw the automated one at the start of Back to the Future (favourite movies of all time)….but I’m not eating dog food!

HA! We got one of the battery operated ones that was supposed to cut the cans safely so you didn’t get hurt. The stinking thing never did work right and only worked somewhat decently if the can was a specific size. I’ll stick with my carpal tunnel inducing one thank you very much. And honestly, some of the manual ones really work smoothly and easily. Just have to find a good one.

yes, carpal tunnel really IS that bad…unless you love waking up in the middle of the night feeling like someone stuck a knife thru your wrist and having excruciating cramps in 3 of your fingers that are asleep but yet you still feel the pain.
and i still use the old fashioned can openers. LOL.
