We all know that the geeks hang out at Best Buy, but have you seen the geeks who huddle outside the door before the store opens? Sadly, this is what my life has come to.
I have a Saturday morning routine. I get up around 7:00, sometimes earlier, and begin my day. The first few hours of it consist of running various errands and shopping. I haul the garbage off to the county dump. I stop by the post office and drop off Netflix movies. I pick up dog food and meds from the vet. I go to the pharmacy. I do the grocery shopping. And when I have time and energy, I do the fun shopping, which often involves a visit to Best Buy.
Cruella insisted on waking me up at the crack of dawn this morning. I have no idea what the problem was, but she refused to let me sleep. She paced around and around the bed, barking and howling. I took her out for a walk around 5:00, and then crawled back into bed. The pacing, barking, and howling started again. So I got an earlier start than usual on the Saturday errands.
An earlier start meant an earlier finish. It wasn’t even 10:00 when I arrived at Best Buy to pick up a copy of Transformers on DVD. Apparently I’m not the only geek who doesn’t sleep. They were all hanging out in the parking lot, waiting for the store to open.
I did get my copy of Transformers. I had been anticipating this movie for months before it opened at the theater. My friend Jack and I went to see it on opening weekend, and I was blown away. I promised myself that I’d add it to my growing collection of geek films.
Speaking of geek films, I love superhero movies. I see most of them as soon as they are released. My movie collection is filled with Spiderman, Batman, Superman, and one of my very favorites - The Fantastic 4! So, from this day forward, Saturdays are not just Saturdays. I proclaim them Superhero Saturdays. And a superhero movie will be viewed on each one!
Bring on the popcorn!

You ready for me to loan you Season 1 of ‘Heroes,’ btw? That could fill a couple of Saturdays.
And I think the geeks were there this morning because of the $98 HD-DVD player special. It was a ’secret’ sale, but word spread fast.

Kev - I just finished Ghost Whisperer Season 2, so I’m ready to begin a new show! Ya know, I haven’t been to Barley’s for pizza and beer in quite a while. Wanna meet there sometime next weekend? Bring ‘Heroes’. I’ll bring that awesome coupon for $5 off the pizza! I love that they still put those in the school coupon books. Oh, and I had no idea the HD-DVD players were on sale for $98. I need to get one sometime, and that’s an awesome deal!

I’ve yet to see Transformers but I hear it’s excellent. I think it’s next on my DVD rental list. AFTER I watch season 1 & 2 of Weeds!!
I love Best Buy..I could spend an entire day in there.

Lol, what about the Heroes series? 2dn season is under way isn’t it?
Hiro Nakamura rocks :)!!!
Transformers was ok, but I don’t know, the whole transformer idea is annoying to me ( I expect a big backlash from the geek community for this one ), but come on the medic transformer, and the evil transformer was so lame….

The Transformers movie grew on me–and that’s liking it a fair degree to start with.
I was hoping for more Starscream….here’s hoping for a more prominent role in the sequel.

On the subject of super hero movies, I really don’t like any of the Spider-Man movies and am really glad at how the new Batman movies are turning out. *nod*

Tish, apparently the geeks are all here, huh?
I never was into Transformers as a kid, and have like 3% interest in seeing that film. Superhero flicks in general, though, I do really like. Unless they’re pure garbage like Daredevil. I’m super psyched for the next Batman movie, the Iron Man film looks fun and the following year’s Watchmen could either turn into pure garbage or be one of the greatest films (not just superhero films) ever made.
And I haven’t seen Heroes yet, though that may be next on my list of shows to get into…
@Bush: What did you think of the recent Superman film and the X-Men trilogy?

Yeah, I felt like a geek when I showed up before 6 am on Friday for the HD-DVD player, but it was well worth it!! Glad to see I’m not the only one…

Hey Tish,
How are you? I am all right :).
What? You like super-heroe movies? Wow…
I have a confession to make: I dislike that type of movies; however your dog is my kind of dog LOL LOL….
Cheers

If you love superhero movies you have to try out Heroes tv show. It’s like a giant comic book put on the screen. It’s a fun show.
I’m such a geek I used to wait out front before the comic book store would open.

If you love superhero movies, try the Batman: The Animated Series sets. The first three box sets are brilliant.
I also must throw in the first three seasons of the new Dr Who. I think you’d enjoy it.

Transformers blew me away as far as what I was expecting it to be. It brought me back to my childhood, and nothing much seems to do that anymore. One of the best movies I have watched in a loooong time.

I am so looking forward to Iron Man it’s not even funny. Just check out the trailer on YouTube and see how awesome it will be. Don’t feel bad Tish. I wish I had a Best Buy to hang out at. The one in my city probably wont be open for another year at least.
