Getting to Know the Real Tish

All the cool kids are doing it, so I’ve decided to start my own meme too.

Bloggers tend to be very honest, spilling their deepest thoughts into the blogosphere without a moment’s hesitation. It is that openness that allows us to feel that we really know the people behind the blogs. But what if we could get to know them even better? You’ve read the bloggers’ words. Now read what the people closest to them have to say.

Please take a moment to tell my readers about the real me – the Tish that many of them know only from my own words. Do you have a memory to share? A story to tell? Thoughts to pass on? If so, please leave a comment.

I challenge all of my readers to tackle this assignment. I would love to get to know you better. If you do choose to participate, please let me know, as I would love to leave my thoughts about you on your post!

Now, how about telling my readers all about me?

Once, in a car, Tish put her hand in my pants. There are photos.

Mike – Ha! Yes, there is indeed photographic evidence – on my blog even!

  3. Bush Mackel Says:

Tish is definitely one of the friendlier bloggers on the net! She loves the arts and despite being a great looking girl, somehow still finds herself single!

  4. Michael Says:

I met Tish many, many years ago on my first day at Value-Ware Software. She was very friendly and nice, inviting me to be part of the lunch-time crowd who hung out in the break room and worried about what a certain member of the office was putting into the community fridge. We cut up, laugh and always had interesting conversations about the TV shows we all watched and life in general. She also gave me tips on how to avoid movie offerings from her brother, most of which involved a)fight scenes or b)scary stuff. Or in the best case, both. Occasionally, these movies had gratituous female nudity as well.

Tish eventually escaped Value-Ware and went on to bigger things . And we remained friends, keeping up with each other over the years.

Tish is one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet. I’ve rarely seen her in a bad mood. She is kind, warm and funny. A great friend and some lucky guy out there is going to eventually “land her…”

  5. Barry Says:

When I worked with Tish at the software company, she was always there – day in and day out. Reliable, quiet, reserved. I know, impossible for most of you to believe, but she was! She was sweet, not really knowledgeable about software or the mechanics of it all, but was a good worker bee :)

What was especially interesting about Tish was her dry sense of humor. Our “boss” was a guy named Alan – I say “boss” because he was younger than I was and only had the position because he went to the same church as the owners and they wanted to help him out. So he was “boss” of the software distribution company. Not that he didn’t do a good job, but pretty much anyone could’ve done it. Anyway, Alan and I would joke around, play computer games (while doing our work, usually) and all the time Tish would sit there, quietly stuffing computer disks into envelopes, listening, biding her time, until eventually Alan would tease her about something and she would let lose some real zinger. It was great. The acerbic sense of humor was there, waiting, biding its time ;)

The bane of Tish’s existence, however, were the dreaded DUPLICATORS (tum tum TUM…….) We sold 3-1/2″ and 5-1/4″ shareware disks that required us to make tons and tons of duplicates. At the end of my time there we also started to sell CD-ROM’s as well. It was Tish’s job to run the DUPLICATORS (tum tum TUM…….) and they were ALWAYS breaking down. She used to get so frustrated because they wouldn’t work, and wouldn’t work, and we couldn’t get them fixed right. I felt sorry for her, so nice and sweet and quiet, and these big HULKING MACHINES looming over her…laughing…cruelly laughing at her predicament.

I’m so glad I got to know her when I was there. I’m glad I reconnected with her now outside in the blogosphere and have discovered she wasn’t nearly the nice, quiet, shy girl I thought she was! I should’ve known from the little biting comments she’d make sometimes. Now I know better!

So now you know about her “safe” side. That’s what I remember most :)

  6. Geneva Says:

Oh, my! Where to start? I could write a novel about growing up with Tish as my older sister.

When I was 7, she left notes around the bedroom. They were all addressed to me and signed, “Smurfette”. I was so excited, and then, so disappointed!

Every teacher I had, from 3rd grade on, called me “Letica”.

She once told me my butt was too high and my legs were too long. No, really. But I forgave her….

She routinely called me inside from playing to bring her a hairbrush or other such item.

She generously offered me all of her male “cast-offs”. She had a 3 date rule, and once she’d hit that limit, they were mine if I was interested. I wasn’t allowed to date and wasn’t terribly interested, so nothing ever came to pass. She even offered to have her fiance take me to the prom.

We knew this guy named Jimbo who really liked Tish. He would pick the two of us up and we would meet some other friends, then go to the arcades in Pigeon Forge. Mom wanted one of us to marry him.

She had cool clothes, so I constantly “borrowed” them without permission. She usually didn’t say anything about it.

There ya go, just some snippets of our past!

I have never met Tish and If I never do, I still know she is my friend… She’s sweet, and always has such nice things to say not just about me but about all who come her way. She has wonderful advice for Bloggers and is a wonderful girl to have on your side.
I wish I could find her the perfect man, but personally I think they’ve already met….. time will take care of it I’m sure* smiles*
Tish’s “real” personality makes her genuine. I know you all may not understand that but I do.
Tish has given me awards, linked loved my Blog and always said the most wonderful things a person could about me. I heart her and all that is Tish
    Sugary Hugs, Judy

Awesome idea for a meme, Tish. Though you do still need to give it a name!

I love reading all these comments too. It’s true, if you really want to learn about someone, don’t ask them, ask their family, friends and co-workers. :)

That said, I’ve never met Tish in person, though we’ve chatted a bit online and like everyone’s said previously she is the real deal. I couldn’t have picked a better “blogging mentor,” since when I started out I couldn’t even tell the difference between RSS and CSS. (Well, other than the obvious 1 letter difference.) She’s also given me more awards then I’ve ever garnered in my entire life, lots of link love and definite ideas on how to be a better blogger and embrace the blogging community. Honestly, my blog would not be even 50% of what it is today (whatever that is), without having met Tish. So big honkin’ thanks for that, T.

Only other thing I’ll say is… I don’t remember how I stumbled upon The Kat House in the first place, but I remember being intrigued by the Woman Behind the Words page and then totally getting hooked on Tish’s wit and humor after immediately seeing she named her dalmatian Cruella.

  10. chattiekat Says:

Bush – Aww. Thanks for the nice words! You’re the best. And when you go on that blogging tour of the US, I expect to meet you!

Michael – Thank you for the very nice comment. It brought back so many memories, and really made me smile. I haven’t visited your blog yet today, but I really hope that you’ll participate in this meme as well. There are a few memories of you that I’d like to share! Like the X-Files mug you got me for my birthday…and I still have it even though the X is almost worn off…just can’t part with it! And your X-Files Season Premiere Party, where I met another Tish! And you teaching me HTML. And meeting you and Barry at BYB just a couple of months ago! I am eternally thankful for your friendship.

Barry – Your comment really cracked me up. Just when I think I’ve overcome the trauma associated with those BIG HULKING DUPLICATORS, you always remind me! I am so glad to have met you all those years ago, and even more happy that we’re such good friends now. I’ll always treasure your friendship.

Geneva – Wow. I was hoping that my little sister would comment! Ya know, I certainly don’t remember telling you that your butt was too high and your legs were too long; although, that does sound like something I’d say – or at least think. Sorry about that! But hey – at least I made up for it with all the hot guy hand-me-downs, right? ;) Thank you for being such a wonderful sister!

Judy – You are so kind. You say all these wonderful things about me, but it is you who deserves so much praise. You are one of the happiest, friendliest, and most down to earth women in the blogosphere. You deserve all the awards and link love. I am happy to have you for a friend, and I hope that one day we will meet in person!

Andrew – Thank you for the amazing comment. You have truly enriched my life by being a part of it. Thank you for commenting on my Woman Behind the Words page. That led to a beautiful friendship that I will always be thankful for. I appreciate you more than you know. The fact that you listen to all my crazy stories without passing judgment, and tell me lots of crazy stories of your own – it lets me know that you’re the real deal. A true friend. Thank you. :)

Taylor – Your blog rocks! I hope to have my review of it posted this weekend on BlogsWeLuv. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for participating in my meme! I’ll stop by and leave a comment for ya. :)

Tish, Tish, Tish…what to say. You are a stalker, crazy woman…with fingers that can text 100’s if not 1000’s of messages in a couple of hours all whilst blogging in a marathon. You can flatten tires from miles away…you speak with the dead.

Leticia…i think the name is Mortcia!!!

and then…then…well, all i can say is thank God you are still a resident of Knoxville (not that I wouldn’t want you for a neighbor)

    I love you Tish!

All I know about Tish comes from her blog entries and comments. But that’s enough to tell me that she’s humurous, interesting, friendly, outgoing, and cares about others. What more do you need to know?
