You may recall that I was told by my gynecologist last month that I was anemic. I’ve never had a problem with it before, so I set a follow-up appointment with my family doctor to determine the reason for the anemia. I saw the doctor this past Monday, and they did a full blood workup. They tested my iron levels, liver function, thyroid function, cholesterol, and everything else they could think of to test.
On Thursday, I received a big packet of test results and other information from the doctor. The source of the anemia is iron deficiency, so I’ve been instructed to take iron supplements. My cholesterol level is also extremely high (it always has been), so I have to work on getting that under control as well. Beginning Monday, I’ll be doing a better job of watching my diet and going to the gym.
I have to see the doctor again in 2-3 months for more blood work. Hopefully we’ll see some improvement in the iron levels and the cholesterol by that time.

Our health is so important. Many people aren’t as proactive and neglect their health in so many ways. Our “body is a temple,” all more the reason to take care of it. Stay healthy. Stay beautiful.

I have often read that monitoring our food intake is important, but working out regularly is apparently much more valuable in order to keep all the systems working smoothly.

Sorry to hear about your condition. I had a check up done a couple of months ago and my cholesterol was high too.
I have eating oatmeal for breakfast almost every morning. Hopefully, it will help at my next check up.

I’ve had high cholesterol forever. Losing weight has definitely helped a bit and really cutting down on fatty foods (which for the most part I’ve been doing since I was a kid) absolutely helps. I’ve actually had more trouble getting my “good” cholesterol numbers up. They’re a bit low and the only way to raise them is really exercise. So I’m trying to up the walking regularly… Good luck, Tish! And just five words of healthy eating advice: Avoid the tofu hot dogs!

Hi Tish!
I am sorry to hear that :(.
One should not play with anaemia: it is a serious business!
Take them suplements, exercise, and increase the intake of water :).
I wish you well
Cheers

Justin - Awww. Thanks for the kind words! I hope all is well in your world!
Choc - Thank you! And that tag you got me with is proving to be quite difficult! *LOL* Don’t worry, though. I’ll get to it!
Mike - Thank you!

David - Very true. I have a class tonight, but I’m going back to the gym tomorrow night!
Andrew - I’m glad your cholesterol numbers are improving. Come on down and go to the gym with me! I’m fortunate in that my good cholesterol number is fairly high. Hopefully exercise and diet will improve the total cholesterol! As for hot dogs, I want the real ones! hehehe…
Max - Thank you so much for the kind words! I’ll do my best! Have a great day!
