Happy Thought for 8/3/07

My Netflix membership makes me happy.

As you know, I love movies. The thing I like about Netflix is that I pay one low price each month and get unlimited rentals. And on most weeks, I manage to watch at leat 2-3 discs.

I have plenty of movies in my Netflix queue, but I usually focus on watching television series that I’ve never, or very rarely, caught while they were being aired. I just finished Season 1 of Tru Calling. The show was canceled in its second season, and I really can’t understand why. This show is incredible; it keeps me on the edge of my seat.

Eliza Dushku stars as Tru Davies, a recent college graduate who takes an internship at the city morgue. She soon discovers that she has has some unusual abilities. Certain bodies - usually those who died before their time - ask Tru for help. When Tru receives such a request, she is transported back in time and starts that day over again, with the knowledge she has gained while examining the body in the morgue. She then has the ability to change that person’s fate.

I’m so glad to have discovered this show. I’ll soon be starting Season 2, which is only two discs due to the cancellation of the show. I’m afraid I’ll be left hanging.

If you enjoy shows involving the supernatural, be sure to check out Tru Calling. You won’t be sorry.

I have zip, the Canadian equivalent and I love it as well. Have seen Tru Calling, but I might have to add it to my ziplist. Thanks for the recommendation.

Speaking of the supernatural I’ve been watching the show called Supernatural. It’s quite good. If you haven’t watched it yet, you should add that to your queue :)

I remember watching a few eps of Tru - I had watched Buffy and Eliza played a slayer on the show. After a few eps I took it out of the TiVo, didn’t really hook me. I think that may have been part of Tru’s problem - it attracted fan’s of Buffy and we lost interest.

Speaking of Whedon - Buffy, Angel, and FireFly (definitely FireFly) are all great shows if you missed any of them. Skip the Buffy movie, but save the FireFly movie until you’ve seen all the eps (also a show canceled in it’s prime, but thank god he finished it in the movie).

Shan - I hope you enjoy Tru Calling! :)
Mike - That’s an awesome show! I have Season 1 on DVD, and I’m anxiously awaiting Season 2. I only managed to catch a few episodes of it on tv.

Mike Neel - I’m a big fan of Buffy and Angel as well. I have Seasons 1-5 of Buffy and Seasons 1-3 of Angel on DVD. I need to complete my collection one of these days. Great shows! As for FireFly, I never watched it, but I have several other friends who are big fans of the show. I’ll put it in my Netflix queue! Thanks!

We have Netflix too and love it. Mainly because there is NO place to rent movies on the Island. but also because up until a few days ago, we had exactly 4 channels, two were Canadian and only 2 of the 4 came in very good. I gave in and got the DirecTv dish and have been watching food network almost non-stop.

As for Tru Calling. I’m so excited to hear it’s on Netflix now! My middle daughter and I LOVED that show and were both really upset when they canceled it.

Polli - I used to work for Scripps Networks (DIY, HGTV, Food Network). I even got to see a taping of Emeril Live! :) It’s nice to find someone else who loves Tru Calling. It was a great show, but I hate how they left us hanging at the end! Btw, I’ll send you a Netflix friend request. :)
