I love theater and they do have a few where I live. I really would like to act because I know someone who does it. I don’t sing though (at least not in front of people LOL) and it does seem that it’s almost a requirement. I’m going to take a class next month and we’ll see:)

You need to schedule a visit to New York and sample some of the theater here! And I don’t mean taking in a performance of “The Lion King” or “Phantom,” which are the sugary sweets of Broadway, offered to the tourist trade to keep Broadway solvent. Go to off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway to see the good stuff. That’s where you’ll see the best writing and acting, at prices most mortals can afford.

Mum is with Melissa, once and you’re hooked. Mum’s favorite though is the symphony and ballet. It makes her heart sing.

Amen girly! I wish I had more opportunity to go the theater. I am an especially big fan of musicals… Unfortunately almosthubby is not a big fan so it’s been years since I have gone. I dragged him one time to see RENT (which I have seen 4 times btw) thinking it would be something even he would like and understand…(live band right on stage… very awesome) ….won’t be happening again I’ll tell you THAT…what a disaster… lol.

When theatre is done well, or even mediocre, its great. Unfortunately, alot of the community theatre troups are kind of week.

If someone’s first exposure to theatre is a poor performance that would have to have a long term impact on their oppinion.

With extra large screen TVs, suround sound and DVD/BlueRay fewer people are going to the movies and a night at the theatre requires much more effort.

However, I believe there is something special about a live performance that will always keep going to the theatre when it is done well.
