You may recall that Molly was scheduled to go to UT Veterinary Hospital yesterday for her chronic ear infections. I guess she was so anxious to see the doctor that she decided to go a day early! I got home from work on Monday to find her covered in hives and panting heavily. I rushed her to the doctor, where she received two injections – an antihistamine and a steroid. She has kept for observation for a couple of hours after the injections.
This is the third time Molly has had a severe allergic reaction. Her doctor says the most likely culprit is an insect bite. Remember how I had to call the Orkin Man last month for my spider problem? I’ve found several more spiders since he treated the place, so I’m guessing that’s what got Molly.
I picked Molly up around 8:00 Monday evening, and she looked much better. But then the vomiting started. She was sick all night long. She threw up in my car on the way to UT Tuesday morning, and then she threw up again while she was with the doctor. I asked UT to add her current problem to the list of other problems they were addressing.
UT sent me home with a mini-pharmacy, so needless to say, Molly is not a happy camper. She is taking ear drops, Benadryl, Clemastine, and a special ear cleaning solution. Oh, and Pepcid AC! She will be going back to UT in two weeks for a recheck on her ear and to address her liver problems. On a good note, though, she seems to be feeling much better now!

Geez. Best of luck with all that. What kind of spiders are these?

Oh, Tish – I sure hope Molly gets better soon, for both of ya! It is so not fun to be sick…..Paws crossed you get it all figured out soon. Licks to Molly!!!

You’re going to hate me for this, but don’t you think it’s about time to put the poor thing out of her misery? I know it’s a difficult decision to make, because I’ve made it myself. But IMO, I think it’s time.

Bush – I have no idea what kind of spiders these are, but they sure are creepy!
Johann – Thank you so much!
BT – I think having three allergic reactions in her lifetime is no reason to “put her out of her misery”. She’s not in misery. I’d be willing to bet that you’ve had three allergic reactions in your lifetime too. Think you should be put out of your misery? Just sayin’…

Gees, you could probably go back to smoking and chewing if you didn’t have to buy all that dog medicine!

I hope she is better soon. Buffy (my dog) has bad ear problems and what makes it worse is that she won’t let me clean her ears, so I have to bring her to the vet to get them cleaned. But she’s been doing better, with her medicine.

Mush – Ha! Bad, bad habits! I think I’ll stick with the dog medicine!
John – Glad to hear that Buffy is doing better! It sucks that you have to take her to the vet to get her ears cleaned. I clean Molly’s ears myself, but she doesn’t like it. I have to take her to the vet to get her nails trimmed though!

Poor Molly, allergies are no fun. My BC Chase has terrible allergies, fortunately never had a reaction like that, though. He’s our most expensive dog with his allergy meds and his low thyroid. Be we pay willingly because we love him to pieces.
I hope everything gets worked out for Molly soon!

My first dog Magnum (a german shepard) had tons of allergies. He was allergic to dust, cats, pollen, pine needles blah blah blah. It’s in memory of him that I try and do my best in treating my own allergies. (#):)
…
On that note, do your pets have shots or just pills/food? I’m just wondering because now writing this, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard about dogs getting allergy shots even though that’s what people do.

Sorry. Next time I’ll keep my opinion to myself. Have a nice day.

Poor Molly! Poor Mommy! ((hugs)) to you both.

Poor Molly. I sure hope she’s feeling better now. She’s lucky she has a good mommy!!

Cynthia – Sorry to hear about Chase’s expensive medical conditions, but he’s so lucky to have you! You’re just like me. I couldn’t deny my dogs the best possible treatment!
Bush – Poor Magnum. So sorry that you lost him, but I’m glad you’re taking care of your own allergies! When Molly has an allergic reaction, she gets two shots – an antihistamine and a steroid.
BT – No worries. Have a nice day as well.
Miz – Thank you! She’s doing much better now!
Jan – Thank you so much! Molly is much better now!
