Monday Melee for 6/18/07

1. The Misanthropic: Name something (about humanity) that you absolutely hate. I am both shocked and pissed off when I see people stealing items from the Salvation Army and Goodwill drop boxes. You’d be surprised at how many people do it and think there’s absolutely nothing wrong with their behavior. This is precisely the reason that I never drop items into a drop box. I take them during business hours and hand them directly to an attendant.

2. The Meritricious: Expose someone or something that’s phony, fraudulent, or bogus. A-list bloggers who look down on those of us who blog for fun instead of fame and fortune. Their blogs aren’t all that anyway!

3. The Malcontent: Name something you’re unhappy with. The price of gasoline

4. The Meritorious: Give someone credit for something and name it if you can. My car battery died yesterday, and I had to get the car jumped off. I then drove it to Advance Auto Parts. A guy named Aaron tested the battery, determined that it was no good, and installed a new one in a matter of minutes. I am amazed at how quickly I was in and out of the store. Aaron was extremely pleasant and didn’t talk down to me like so many other auto parts store employees would have.

5. The Mirror: See something good about yourself and name it. I am very independent. I have always done a great job of managing an unbelievable number of responsibilities with very little help.

6. The Make-Believe: Name something you wish for. I would like to learn to swim. If you recall, I took lessons last year. I did make a lot of progress, but I still can’t let go of the fear of drowning. It prevents me from swimming for any real distance.

Now it’s your turn.

    1. People who write icky messages on the walls of public bathroom stalls. No I will NOT meet you there in that stall next Tuesday for a bit of fun. Weirdo.
    2. Gotta go with you on number two. That works for me.
    3. Hmm. I’m currently unhappy with my neighbors. They walk like elephants.
    4. That’s definitely got to be Adria for driving a boatload of traffic to the BlogsWeLuv site the past three days. She’s a StumbleUpon machine :-o 5. I like to think I’m pretty artistic. I can at least draw little aliens pretty well.
    6. A soulmate would be nice but that’s probably asking for too much. I’d settle for winning the lottery.

Okay, I’ll give it a go:

    1. People who think they are entitled to something without the proper experience or effort to put into it in the first place.

    2. The illegal immigration reform bill that’s currently being bandied about.

    3. Price of gasoline: yep, me too.

    4. The co-worker in my office that is really taking the bull by the horns for one of my clients.

    5. I think I have a strong sense of justice, to know when something is right or wrong. I’m just trying to work on my “speak up about it” skills. :)
    6. I have two: to be more patient and more self-less.

Go to http://fracas.wordpress.com/read/the-monday-melee/ … then … have at it. I’m a damn trendsetter, and a lazy one at that! ;-)

    Mike ~ I think you’ll find your soulmate! :)
Mark ~ Thanks for playing along! Why not make it a regular feature on your blog?

Mark S. ~ You’ve convinced so many people to do the Melee! They should give you an award or something. ;)

  5. BD Says:

    001. Image over substance. Forgetting the important things…
    002. I would say something a bit contraversial or maybe contentious but I learnt that people don’t like having their bubble burst.
    003. That Americans have the cheek to be unhappy about fuel prices!
    004. My dear JT, she got us past 100.
    005. There’s a saying, a spade is a spade but is an ace an ace?
    006. That I didn’t need to bullshit my way out of questions like ‘The Mirror’.
