2. List your top five places to eat at your location.

Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria - Barley’s is my favorite hangout. Their pizza is to die for, and they have Hardcore Cider on draft, which is always a plus. There is live entertainment each night, and the atmosphere is very laid-back. It’s the type of place where you can sit down, have a beer, and unwind from a long day at the office.

A&W - Anyone who reads my blog on a regular basis knows that I consider A&W to be a gift from God. Although the food is good, it is the root beer that keeps me coming back. You just can’t beat a big frosty mug of A&W draft root beer! It has been about two years since I’ve been to A&W. And since I’ve recently lost more than 10 pounds and plan on losing more, it will probably be a long time until I visit again. When I reach my goal weight, however, I’ll be starting Project Root Beer. It’s mission: to drink a root beer at every A&W in the nation. I’ll have my photo taken while drinking each root beer, and I’ll document my progress on a photo blog, complete with pins on a US map!

Frussies Deli - Frussies is a little deli just off Chapman Highway. The food is absolutely terrific, and the customer service is excellent. The owner of the deli will ask for your first name when you place your order, and he will remember it on your second visit. There was a gap of many months in between my first and second visit to Frussies, and the guy remembered my name! Frussies is a well-kept secret among South Knoxvillians, but there is definitely no shortage of patrons. I’ve never seen any advertising; it’s strictly word of mouth. I’ve also noticed that Frussies is among the highest scored restaurants in town for cleanliness.

Texas Roadhouse - I’m not a fan of fancy restaurants. I prefer casual places where I can just be myself. Texas Roadhouse is just that type of place. It has a relaxing atmosphere, complete with a big bucket of peanuts on each table. And you’ll be walking on peanut shells all the way to your table.

Mellow Mushroom - Mellow Mushroom is famous for its pizza, but I am crazy about their sandwiches. The first time I visited, I got a ham and cheese sandwich that was the best I’d ever had. It practically melted in my mouth. The Vegetarian Hoagie is also very yummy.

3. Tag five other people (preferably from other locations) and let them know they’ve been tagged.

Tish, if you like root beer, find yourself some Virgil’s - the best kept secret on the planet. It is the closest to homebrew root beer you’ll ever get. Yes, I’ve had homebrew - once! When I got back there, the place was closed up. That was almost thirty years ago, and I can still taste the root beer - and the disappointment on my next visit.

Oh, and when you find Virgil’s and notice the price, don’t die of shock; it really is worth it! Around here, people pay nearly that much for IBC and IBC is nothing special at all. Next to Virgil’s, I’d have to say Boylan is the best, but there is a big gap there.
