Withdrawals

I currently have DSL service through BellSouth. I just assumed that it would transfer to the new house with me, but it turns out that DSL is not available at the new place. I will be switching to cable internet service through Comcast. There’s only one problem. Comcast can’t set up my new service until Tuesday, and I plan on being completely moved into the new house by Sunday night! This creates a serious problem.

I’m already starting to feel the shakes. A cold sweat is just around the corner. I might have to check into a detox center. Well, either that or take my laptop to the local Krystal for the free wireless. But that creates problems of its own.

What will Tish do? Can she survive without internet access? Will she be forced to boldly go where no man should ever go?

Stay tuned for the shocking conclusion.

As much as I detest all that Starbucks is, I would recommend their wireless over braving Krystal. There is no shame in sitting in the parking lot of a Taco John’s in Souix Falls, SD stealing their internet while on a road trip to TN!

Os ~ Thanks for the link! I found a few hotspots near where I live. And they would all be better than Krystal! ;)

*LOL* I still remember you blogging about the Taco John’s on your way to TN! Btw, that blogger meetup was FUN! We should all do it again sometime. Wish I could have made it to Texas for your birthday party!

Even Waffle House has WiFi these days. It’s cool! And, hey, I’d rather pay $1.25 for coffee than $5 any day. And I can have a Patty Melt and a double hashbrown, covered…

    Ok, sounds like lunch…

Yeah… mine went down for 5 minutes last week and I was devastated! lol!

I had to wait a week at one place. I was forced to hang out in front of the local truck stop diner. I think I heard the term “Lot Lizard” thrown my direction.

Seriously, just drive around town and keep your laptop on, scanning for random hotspots. You can find dozens just tooling down Kingston Pike past Atlanta Bread Company, Panera, etc. Or cruise any random neighborhood and you’ll find any number of unsecured home wireless networks.

Oh I remember the move and Comcast not being able to get here before we moved in. I clutched my laptop around to every restaurant in Nashville we ate at!!! And if you do a blogger meet maybe Bat & I will BOTH come this time. lol

  8. Tish Says:

Mark ~ I think Waffle House may be even worse for your health than Krystal!

Lecram ~ It sure is nice to know others who even more addicted than myself! ;)

Wanderinggirl ~ *LOL* Thanks for the idea! ;)

Barry ~ You know way too much about this! Mind if I cruise around your neighborhood for unsecured networks? ;)

Flat Coke ~ What is it with Comcast??! We should definitely plan a blogger meet! I would love to meet you! :)

I know this feeling all too well having moved around a few times. Each time I couldn’t help but feel sad for myself because I’d become so attached to the internet. Yet the second that little green light went solid on the modem, my butt was parked in the chair and I was blissfully surfing away again ;)

  12. Tish Says:

OCL ~ I’m not too happy with Comcast right now. Glad to hear that it’s working well for you! My internet and cable are fine, but the phone isn’t working! Arrghhh.

Barry ~ We know the truth. ;)

Mike ~ We have SO much in common! *LOL*
