Moving Day

I closed on my new home yesterday! Hooray for me!

It has been seven years since I last moved, and I can’t believe that I had forgotten just how big of a pain it all is. There is just so much to do!

I had the electricity and water turned on today. The telephone service will be switched from the current home to the new home on Friday. The cable and internet service will be hooked up next Tuesday. I’m also waiting on a return call from a locksmith. I’m going to have all the locks re-keyed and a deadbolt installed on the front door. Am I forgetting anything?

I will be spending the next several evenings packing all my earthly belongings, and hopefully, I’ll be completely moved into the new place by Sunday evening. Then comes the task of unpacking! Will it ever end?

I should be closing on the home I’m selling early next week. And as soon as that happens, I am going to breathe the biggest sigh of relief!

I can think of no other task that is as onerous as packing up and moving. Sure, it’s exciting and exhilirating too, but it’s also mind-numbing and back-breaking. I hope you have help! Enlist true friends who won’t strike you off their friends list when they’re done. Then throw a party for them after you’ve moved in . . . get a big grill from the Wal-Mart on Chapman Highway and load up the burgers and dogs. I’d help just for the promise of burgers and beer.

    Congratulations, Tish.

And the answer to “will it ever end” is no, not as long as you continue to insist on breathing out and in. Life is one long moving day! So make the most of it, however difficult and stressful it may be.
