Cruella had her surgery this morning. It took longer than expected - nearly two hours - but I am happy to say that she’s doing very well!
Chest x-rays were done before the surgery, and they showed no sign of cancer in the lungs. Once the doctors opened her up, they found that the mass was leaning against the spleen, but wasn’t actually attached to it! They didn’t have to remove her spleen! The tumor was attached to the colon and small intestines. The doctors were able to detach it while leaving her organs intact. And get this - the doctor told me that the mass was 10″ x 8″ and weighed about 5 pounds! It is being sent to the lab for further testing. Hopefully it will turn out to be a benign tumor.
Cruella is currently on IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain meds. She has to stay in the hospital overnight, but if everything continues to go well, I will be able to take her home sometime tomorrow!
The vet just called with another update as I was typing this post. Cruella is alert and sitting up, and she is eating! It appears that the surgery was a success! I can’t wait to bring my baby back home!
Molly goes to the vet tomorrow to be tested for Cushing’s Disease. Hopefully I’ll get a good report on her as well!
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

That’s awesome! I’m with Brico…keep it in a jar. Maybe as a conversational piece on your coffee table?

Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! Three cheers for Cruella! And to think, she was probably feeling bloated because of the tumor, not fat. Poor girl, she will probably go down 2 dress sizes now!
PS… my Mom left a comment for you on my blog from the “Oz is home” post.
