I got some bad news during Cruella’s ultrasound today. The mass that was spotted on her x-ray the other day is very large, and it is on her spleen. Without attention, it could rupture and cause internal bleeding. The doctor scheduled her for surgery on Thursday, March 8th. They will be removing her entire spleen. It is possible that hemorraging could occur during the surgery, so they are going to keep a dog with a matched blood type nearby, just in case they need to do a transfusion.
There is a possibility that the tumor is malignant, and if so, the cancer has probably spread through Cruella’s entire body. The doctors will do chest x-rays to check for signs of cancer in her lungs before doing the surgery on Thursday.
I had a really long cry at the vet’s office when I heard the news. With serious health issues for both dogs, it is a very emotional time for me. Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear about your doggies difficulties! I hope it all turns out okay in the end. I had two shelties who ended up with every health problem in the book, so I know how helpless it can make you feel. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you!
