In preparation for watching Saw III with Brico this upcoming weekend, I decided to go back and watch the first two movies. I had already seen the first one 5 or 6 times, and I watched it again tonight. I’ve only seen Saw II once, and when I saw it, I wasn’t very impressed. I was so unimpressed, actually, that I can barely remember a darn thing about the movie! I recently bought a previewed copy of Saw II at Blockbuster for $3.99. I will be watching it for the second time tomorrow evening. In the meantime, even after the multiple viewings, I have a few questions about the first movie of the series.
- How did the “killer” manage to lay perfectly still in the middle of the room for all those hours? Perhaps he drugged himself so he’d appear to be dead, but if so, how do you explain the fact that he was alert enough to know what was going on around him? This has bothered me since the first time I saw the movie, and I can find no logical explanation.
- What happened to the doctor? Did he survive? At the end of the movie, he appeared to be just barely alive as he crawled out the door to go get help. But how can we be sure he actually died? Did the second movie address this at all? I can’t seem to recall any references to the doctor in the second movie.
- Why am I disturbed by the last comment that the doctor made to Adam? The doc said that he was going to send help back for Adam, and Adam asked if that was a promise. The doc then said, “I wouldn’t lie to you.” I keep thinking that there’s some hidden message in that statement - something very important to the movie. What am I missing?
- We find out in Saw II that Adam was never rescued. Is this because the doctor died before he could get help?
- Knowing what we know about the movie, how could Adam and the doc have gotten away from the killer? They had a gun and a bullet. If they had known that the killer was in their presence, they could have killed him, but then what? They would have still been trapped in that room, and they would have still been chained to the wall. The key that was in the bathtub had long earlier gone down the drain. Zep knew where Adam and the doc were, but would he have chosen to help them? Since he was a player in the “game” as well, I would expect him to, but then again - that guy didn’t quite seem stable.
Okay, I think that’s it for the questions. Sorry if I ruined the movie for anyone, but I need answers. Enquiring minds want to know!

Never saw the movie–I hate scary movies. I think you better snuggle up close to Brico when you’re watching it this weekend just in case you get scared too.

I watched the first one and never went back for more. Too violent and bloody for me. I’ll stick with hockey!
Have fun with the third one though.

I thought the first one was boring, I thought the second one was better, and the third is very….oh, I better not tell you, hehe!

I watched whichever one has the doctor and the kid chained near the bathtub. It scared the living crap out of me. I am done with slasher/horror movies forever. Give me Memento or Anchorman anyday.

That’s way too many questions for that movie. I think you’re just supposed to flow with the killing and the like.
As for me, I steer clear of those movies, but i was stuck in a room where it was playing for about 20 minutes. I’m just not a serial killler movie fan.
Have a good 1.

Brico ~ I’m glad you like the Saw movies. I don’t like watching them alone! Scary! But no, blood is NOT fun!
Flat Coke ~ What a wonderful idea! And yes, I did take your advice!
Rachel ~ They are indeed bloody! Probably almost as much as your hockey games!
Simply Me ~ I loved Part 3!! We must discuss it! It was nice to finally get some answers to my questions from the first two movies!
Dale ~ That was Part 1. It scared me half to death too - every single time I watched it! As for Memento, that movie really confused me!! Btw, nice to see you commenting again! And even better to see you blogging again!
Dan ~ You don’t know what you’re missing!
