As you know, I’m a big fan of Kevin Smith. I have quite a few of his movies - Clerks, Clerks 2, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Dogma, Chasing Amy, Jersey Girl, and even the Clerks Animated Series. A few months ago, Mike was kind enough to inform me that Kevin Smith has a blog, and I’ve been reading it ever since. What most amazes me about Kevin is that he’s so down to earth. He blogs about the same things we do. He posts photos of his home, his wife, his daughter. I even saw his phone number in an old post! He’s just a regular joe. Unlike the rest of the movers and shakers in Hollywood, this guy is someone I can relate to.
Kevin and his wife Jen love to interact with the fans. And one of the ways they do so is through Kevin’s message board, The View Askewniverse. There are currently 16,271 registered members of the board. I joined the board a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been spending quite a bit of time there. I log in each night, read through a few threads, and communicate with other users. The users talk about much more than just Kevin Smith and his movies. They talk about anything and everything - from current world events to the happenings in their own daily lives. And in the mix of thousands of comments, you’ll see plenty of them from Kevin and Jen. Yes, they will respond to your own messages! Especially Jen. She has become addicted to the board and spends a lot of time there.
For those of you who enjoy playing poker, you will be happy to know that Kevin even organizes poker games that the fans can get in on. Real, live poker games. I think that’s awesome.
So anyway - my late night hours are being consumed by the message board. And I’m sure that any of you Kevin Smith fans would enjoy being a part of the board as well. Check it out when you have some down time.

Bat introduced me to Kevin Smith. I have seen all three Clerks movies and one or two more from him. After you posted about his blog last year Bat & I viewed it but I didn’t realize Kevin was so involved in his blog. I figured it was like myspace where they have a fan make a page for him. That’s so cool. Let me know if you beat him in a hand of poker.

I used to look at that board all the time, but I haven’t been there in a while. Last fall I did read his posts about how Jason Mewes got clean, which was a pretty amazing read.

I will have to pass this info onto my niece. She is a pretty big fan of Kevin Smith too.
By the way, I loved “Chasing Amy.” Great movie.
