Sinus Troubles Again!

Sorry it has been a while, folks!

I’m getting over yet another sinus infection. I finally saw an Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist today due to the recurring troubles. He performed a CT scan to look at my sinuses. The left ethmoid (between the eyes) and the left maxillary (in the cheek) sinuses were the source of the problem. They were seriously inflamed and infected. The doc put me on some potent meds - a nasal spray, a dose pack of steroids, and a round of antibiotics. I have to see the doctor again in a month. If my sinuses are not back to normal by that time, they may have to be surgically drained. Let’s hope these meds do the trick!

It’s not only me who has been sick. Molly has been suffering from recurring ear infections for a very long time. I recently switched to a new vet, and I asked them to take care of the problem. Molly has to go in on Thursday morning to have her ears flushed since the meds aren’t clearing up the infection. While she was at the vet this past Saturday, I had quite a scare. A large mass was found in her abdomen, so a biopsy was taken. One of her lymph nodes was also enlarged, so a biopsy of that was taken as well. Thyroid tests were done since recurring ear infections is often a sign of a thyroid condition. I am happy to say that the mass in Molly’s belly is only a fatty tumor. Two doctors looked at the lymph node biopsy, and neither could make a definite call. They think it is clear of cancer, but they sent the sample to a pathologist to make sure. I know that we’re not completely out of the woods, but it already feels like a huge weight has been lifted. I was so worried over the weekend. As for the thyroid tests, I don’t have the results yet, but I expect them any day.

Wish us luck!

My Pooh King has fatty tumors (lypomas). Once they get one, lots more are on their way. I call him Ol’ Lumpy now.

Hopefully your sinuses are going to clear up in time to smell the spring flowers!

I hope your sinuses are getting better. I’ve seen lots of talk of neti pots on one of the blogs that I read.
