Introducing Cruella

I did a post about Molly recently, so I figured it was about time to show off my other baby, Cruella. This photo was taken just a few days ago. Isn’t she just adorable?

One of my coworkers found Cruella roaming the streets outside out workplace in July 2002. Deborah was keeping her in the computer room while trying to find a suitable home. When she asked me to take her, I just couldn’t resist, even though I knew that Molly would probably have a serious problem with a new dog in the house. And sure enough, she did!

Cruella was not in the best of shape when I got her. She was malnourished and appeared to have been abused. She had a tumor almost as large as a golf ball on the underside of her tail. I figured that her owner had not properly cared for her, but who knows? Perhaps she had been lost and all the damage had been done afterward. I wanted to be sure, so I placed ads in the newspaper to find her rightful owner. No luck. I got a few calls from dalmatian lovers offering to take her, but no call from an owner.

In the meantime, I took Cruella to the vet. She got an exam, her vaccinations, and she underwent surgery to remove the large tumor as well as a few smaller ones on other areas of her body. And by this point, I had gotten attached to her. I decided that even if an owner did come forward, I was not giving up this dog!

Cruella was very jumpy around people. She was quite shy, and I guess she still is for the most part. But she has gotten very attached to me. She follows me from room to room. She sits outside the bathroom door while I shower. She sits on the couch when I watch tv. She even sleeps on my bed. I’m very lucky to have found her. I feel the same way about Molly.

Yep, I don’t know what I’d do without my babies! Oh, and just in case you’re wondering, Molly and Cruella get along very well most of the time. They have become wonderful sisters!

It’s nice to see Cruella again. We seemed to have quite a few strays around the plant around that time – remember that kitten? It’s nice to know that at least one of them made it into a good home.
