It’s time for the Self Portrait Challenge once again. This month’s theme is With Someone. This is me with my friend Barry.
I met Barry in 1994 when I went to work for Value-Ware Software, a company that distributed shareware programs. We worked together for two years, and then Barry went off to greener pastures. Michael took his place in the company. I left Value-Ware a short while later.
During the time that Barry and I worked together, we weren’t exactly what you’d call “pals”. At that time, I was shy and reserved (can you imagine that?) and not looking to get too chummy with anyone in the workplace. Barry was consumed by the game DOOM. From time to time, we’d take breaks - him from his games and me from fighting with 3.5″ disk duplicators that broke down more often than they worked - and we’d say hello to each other. Oh, the good old days!
Barry and I didn’t keep in touch once he left the company, but we ended up reconnecting here on Blogger last year. Since that time, we have become good friends. I regret not getting to know him better when we worked together all those years ago. Thanks for your friendship, Barry!
By the way, isn’t that giant mushroom just awesome?!

Anyway, the boss boy was playing it too on the network, so it wasn’t like I was the only one
Besides, like we said back then we weren’t playing games, we were evaluating them. For sale suitability and all that…

Seriously, everyone should meet Tish. And if you come to Knoxville you have to visit the Mellow Mushroom, although the pizza I had there that day wasn’t as good as it normally is. But it feels like one big psychedelic Beatles song…

Great story about meeting up through Blogger. I’ve reconnected with a few friends because of Blogger, too!
