It was two months ago today that I first met Brico in person. It has been a wonderful two months!
Out of curiosity, I went back to see when Brico and I first “met” via our blogs. The first comment he left on my blog was on September 1, 2005. Thus began a beautiful friendship through blog comments. Having no clue that Halloween was his birthday, I just happened to post A Smile for Brico on that day, 2005. He then emailed his phone number to me, and we began talking on the phone.
We quickly became friends, and the more I talked to him, the more I pondered the idea of a romantic relationship. Silly, I know – the boy lived four hours away! He was the nicest, funniest, most caring person I’d ever met though, and before I knew it, I’d been drawn in by his wit and charm. Imagine my surprise when I received a very serious email from him one day. He was very fond of my friendship, but he had to be completely honest with me. He had been talking to another long-distance blogger for months, and he would soon be meeting her in person for the first time. He suspected that things would take a romantic turn, and he didn’t want to mislead me. Perhaps if we’d met earlier, things would be different. My heart sank. Yes, I was sad, but I developed an unbelievable amount of respect for him that day. I’ve completely trusted him ever since.
I put my feelings for Brico on a back burner, and he and his blogger friend did have a brief affair. In the end, it didn’t work out, but I am happy to say that this blogger friend is now happily married!
Brico and I continued to be friends – very close friends, in fact. We talked about nearly everything. During his brief relationship, I also had a number of dates. In fact, I was involved with one guy for a couple of months. But the thought of Brico was always in the back of my mind. I never imagined that things would actually go anywhere between us though. Even when I was on my way to meet him on May 27th, I figured we’d end up being only friends. I’m glad I was wrong.
The past 11 months have been some of the most fulfilling of my life. And the past two months in particular have been especially wonderful. Brico, your friendship is the reason for that. Thank you for being there for me, and thank you for putting so much trust in me. You will always have a very big piece of my heart. Mwah!

my husband and I never lived in the same STATE until we were married. (California and Indiana, and then Virginia and Indiana) Actually the phone and online relationship lets you put the confusing physical stuff on the back burner and concentrate on knowing each other better.
We’ve been married 8 years now!

Brico ~ Awwwww. You can be so sweet sometimes. Why can’t you be like that more often?
Just kidding, babe.
Red ~ Thanks so much for the support. I will definitely keep everyone posted!
Brico ~ I don’t consider them anniversaries unless YEARS are involved. Of course, then you have to remember all of the milestones – One year since we met, one year since we talked on the phone, one year since we first kissed. You get the point. It might be worthwhile for you to start keeping a journal of the important events in our relationship.
As for your eyes, silly, I love you just the way you are. I think it’s actually kind cool that you can look in my eye and at my chest at the same time! hehehe…
JC ~ Thank you! You never have mentioned on your blog (at least not that I’ve seen) whether you have a special someone or not. How about blogging about it? Enquiring minds want to know.
Binsk ~ As cute and sweet as you are, you’ll have no problems with that. I’m sure you’re already beating the guys away with a stick! Good luck finding one that you want to keep around.
Joy ~ That’s awesome! I’m so happy for you. And yes, I completely agree – getting to know each other online and by phone first is a wonderful way of meeting. I honestly believe that the reason things are so great between Brico and me is that we became friends first. I hope that we’ll still be together in 8 years. Congrats to you!
Tart ~ Thanks! I completely agree.
