Blogging From Michigan

As most of you know, I’m currently in Michigan for work-related purposes. I rode up with another manager on Tuesday morning. It was an 8 hour drive! I’ll be in Detroit until mid-day tomorrow, and then I’ll be heading to Columbus, Ohio. I’ll spend tomorrow night there, and then I’ll be on my way back to Tennessee Friday morning! I am more than ready!

I did finally get a much-desired photo when we passed through Florence, Kentucky.

Speaking of travels, I’ll be seeing Brico again on the weekend of June 10th. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of photos to post, so stay tuned…

Os ~ I’ve seen that “Florence Yall” thing several times when passing through, and for some reason, I just love it! About time I got a picture!

1- how is that youre passing through ‘florence’ on great frequency?
2- why is it that the only pic your dying to get is of a giant falec symbol?

Do you know the story of how that sign came to be? (If you do or if it’s totally boring, sorry!)

It originally said “Florence Mall” and was meant to advertise a mall that was being built but wasn’t finished yet. Then some beaurocrat came along and said that it was illegal to advertise something that didn’t yet exist and demanded that they paint over the sign and that was going to be expensive. So the at-that-time Mayor of Florence had a brain wave. He hired someone to paint out the “legs” of the M in Mall and add an apostrophe. And the sign has been that way ever since!

Brico ~ You don’t know how much you’re missing by not passing through Florence on a regular basis! As for the giant phallic symbol, I have no idea what you’re talking about! ;)

Debr ~ Thanks for that enlightening tidbit! I’ve often wondered where “Florence Y’all” came from! I love the story!
