While browsing around tonight, I came across a website containing information on surnames. Against my better judgment, I decided to look up my birth name.
BOGLE
- Scottish and northern Irish: nickname for a person of frightening appearance, from older Scots bogill ‘hobgoblin’, ‘bogy’ (of uncertain origin, possibly Gaelic).
- South German (Bögle): metonymic occupational name for a bowman or bow maker, from a diminutive of Middle High German boge ‘bow’ (see Bogel), or from the pet form of a Germanic personal name formed with an element akin to Old High German bogo ‘bow’.
It is all so clear now! Perhaps this is the reason I’ve been single all these years! Of course, I prefer to believe that my roots come from definition #2!

Schade ~ We should take a vote on who got the raw end of the deal! *LOL* Just imagine if a Bogle and a Schade hooked up. The poor kid who came from that union wouldn’t have a chance. hehehe. Just kidding!
