Him: I told her that I have to work.
Me: Interesting. Perhaps the next time a guy asks me out, I’ll tell him that I’m busy that night. It will leave the door open for him to ask me out on another night.
Him: Are you trying to make me jealous? The reason I didn’t mention you is that we haven’t really been clear to each other about our “status”. And I don’t want to pressure you by bringing it up.
Me: I seem to recall discussing our “status” in great length one night.
Him: I’m really sorry, Tish, but I don’t remember it. It must have been after I had a few beers. But I hope you know that I’d never cheat on you.
Me: How can you cheat on me if we’re not a couple? I’ll make this easy for you. Call me when you decide that you want to be with me and only me. Until you make that decision, don’t bother.
Him: Umm, I’ll call you tomorrow after you’ve calmed down, and we can talk about it then.
Me: No. As I said, take your time. If and when you decide that I’m the one you want to be with, let me know.
Him: Okay.
