The Kat House

I met Donovan in 1999 when I was worked for Scripps. He started working there a couple of months after I did, and we immediately hit it off. He was a sound engineer, so he got to go to all sorts of cool places and work sound for various television programs.

We kept in touch even after I left Scripps at the end of 2000. It never failed - Donovan would always call me up in the middle of the night, half drunk, from various cities across the country. Now that I think about it, I wish I’d kept a map and logged all his calls with push pins!

I’m a night owl, and it’s not often that I’m offended about late night calls; however, one night while I was PMSing, Donovan woke me with a 3 AM call. I can’t remember all the details (a combination of being only half awake and repressing the memory), but I do remember that I was harsh and told him that from that point forward, he needed to call me during the day. He was shocked, and I think he thought I hated him, so we didn’t talk for a while after that. Eventually, however, we got everything worked out between us, and we were back to being friends.

Donovan is one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met. He has long, flowing, gorgeous hair that most women would kill for. And it’s guaranteed that you’ll hear him say “dude” at least a few times if you carry on a conversation with him. He’s a boob man all the way, and has always been very appreciative of mine. Yep, Donovan is quite the character!

One of my fondest memories of Donovan involved a few beers and a parking lot. Actually, maybe it was more than a few beers, because the details are hazy.

I’m so happy to have this wonderful guy for a friend. I’m sure our friendship will continue through all the days to come!
