I met Kent in the summer of 1999. I was working for Scripps Networks at the time, and Kent had just gotten hired on. As I was working on his payroll information, I noticed that he had just left Musician’s Friend, which is where Jake was working at the time. I asked Kent about it, and it turns out that he and Jake did know each other. From that moment on, Kent and I were friends.
Kent worked in the warehouse, and he was the best thing the shipping department had seen in all its days. Not only was his work ethic top-notch, but he had the most pleasant, friendly personality. It’s no surprise that he was always surrounded by girls! I don’t think the warehouse had ever seen so much traffic of the female variety, and I’m sure it never will again.
I left Scripps at the end of 2000 and went to work for the company that I’m currently employed by. Kent stayed at Scripps for a while longer and then relocated to Nashville where he built custom guitars for all sorts of famous musicians. Kent is one of the most talented bass players you could ever meet. We kept in touch by email while he was in Nashville, and I was ecstatic when I received a certain email from him in 2004. He was moving back to Knoxville!
It’s really strange at how things pan out. When Kent came back to K-Town, he started working in sales for a company that deals with safety and first aid supplies. As it turns out, it’s the same company that my company does business with. And in an even stranger turn of events, Kent was assigned to our account! I had no clue until he walked into my office one day!
Now I get to see him on a regular basis. When he stops by the office, we talk about all sorts of important things - American Idol, The Shield, and of course, our love lives - or in my case, lack thereof.
Kent just recently joined Perfect Mercy as their bass player. If you recall, my friend Justin is the lead guitarist, and my ex-boyfriend Chris was the former bass player. Yes, I know this band pretty well.
It’s hard for me to pick just one memorable moment with Kent, so I’ll just tell you about the recent email he sent me. It really made my day.
“Hey Tishalishous! Just wanted to say Merry Christmas! I tried to find you a boyfriend in your size but they were sold out. I’ll see if I can find an after Christmas sale on them next month before I come see you again. It has made me most happy to start seeing you again. It was worth moving back just for that. c-u-soon, Kent”
See - not only is this guy easy on the eyes, but he’s got a heart of gold! Love ya, Kent!

Gabby ~ This particular guy is married. Sure wouldn’t be wise for him to ask me out. But what I wouldn’t give for him to be single! Hubba hubba…
