Last night I went to Preservation Pub to support my friends Angel and the Love Mongers. It was an awesome night. On the way to the show, I got a call from my friend Jeff. I had called Jeff the other night to see if he wanted to go to the show, but he was in Shreveport, LA, and he said that he wouldn’t be back until Saturday night. Imagine my surprise when he called last night.
Jeff: Guess what? I just landed at the Knoxville airport.
Tish: What? I thought you weren’t getting back until Saturday night.
Jeff: Yes, but you said Angel and the Love Mongers were playing tonight.
Tish: You came back early just for the show?
Jeff: No, I came back early so I could hang out with you.
What a friend!
I had invited some of my other friends as well, but the only one to show up was Jaime, a guy that I met at Paul’s Oasis on Wednesday night. Jeff, Jaime, and I had a great time. The first band on stage was Bang Bang Bang. They were very good, but a bit on the loud side. Angel and the Love Mongers were up next, and they rocked the house! They played a few new songs, and of course, Jeff and I sang along to all the old ones. The last band, 13 Stories, sucked – to put it lightly. There were a couple of girls in the band, including the lead singer, so there were lots of guys gathered around. We had to wade through knee-deep drool just to exit the bar!
On my way home from the bar, I got a text message from my friend Justin. He works as a paramedic and had just gotten back from transporting a burn victim to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He is also the lead guitarist for Perfect Mercy. I gave him a call, and we talked until nearly 5 AM. Even night owls like me need a little rest every now and then, so I finally headed to bed. Needless to say, I haven’t been very productive today.
