A Movie Everyone Should See

I just added Crash to my DVD collection today. I watched it a few weeks ago, and I was blown away. I watched it again tonight, and it was just as great as the first time. If you haven’t seen this movie, rent it - or better yet, buy it.

The movie is set in modern day Los Angeles, and it’s an incredible illustration of hatred and racism. Have some tissue handy, because frankly, I don’t see how anyone can come away from this movie unaffected. There are so many emotional scenes, and I guarantee that at least one of them will bring tears to your eyes.

You’ll see a number of ethnicities represented in the film, and you’ll see just how they all interact over a 36 hour period. There’s strong language and violence, but I think it’s a film that each of us should see and spend some time reflecting on. And the cast is awesome - Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, Ryan Phillippe, and the list goes on…

And as an added bonus - Michael Pena has a starring role. You might remember him from The Shield. *Sigh* Good Lord in Heaven - he’s one of the sexiest men to ever walk this earth! I’m putting him on my Christmas wish list!

Please just don’t confuse it with David Cronenberg’s film of the same name…that’s a totally different kettle of fish….yikes!!!

I thought “Crash” was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Really powerful stuff.

I watched it a few weeks ago after a number of folks recommended it to me, and I thought….eh. It was good, and it was intense, and all that. And it produced a lot of discussion between me and my wife, who was able to see about half of it before I had to take it back to Blockbuster.

The scene with the little girl at the end (you know the one) had my heart in my throat - followed by intense joy and wonder at the apparent miracle. That was the best part to me.

I’m not sure why the rest didn’t resonate - I guess living in East Tennessee we don’t have those complex racial identities and relationships, so I kept wanting to shake the people and just tell them all to quit whining and get along…

I looked and looked and looked for a better picture of him in that role. I agree totally HOT! Sigh… like big time hot.
