It’s only Tuesday, and this has already been the week from hell.
I spent most of the day Sunday studying for my Strategic Management final and writing a 10-page paper regarding the cultural norms of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” as compared to the cultural norms of Tim Burton’s film “Sleepy Hollow”. A few pages into it, I thought, “What the hell was I thinking when I chose this topic?” Alas, I wasn’t about to start back at square one with a new one.
The rest of my Sunday was consumed by a disastrous lawn mowing incident. My brother Ralph usually mows my lawn, but he hasn’t been over to do it in a while. My yard was looking like a jungle, so I decided that drastic measures must be taken. Keep in mind that I am a girly girl, and physical labor of the mowing type is not in my job description. Desperate times call for desperate measures, however, so I pulled the lawn mower out of the garage. I spent about 15 minutes trying to start it - to no avail! I called my brother Jake who then came over and cranked it up for me. The grass was so high that it kept killing the motor. By the time I had finished about half of the front yard, I was exhausted. I seriously considered checking myself into the ER to get my shoulder put back into the socket. I had to crank that mower so many times! At the end, I just couldn’t do it anymore. My right arm ached, and my left arm was so weak that it was pointless to even try to pull the cord. So now I have a half mowed front yard. It looks even worse than it did to start with! On a good note, though, Jake is coming over tomorrow to finish the mowing. Yay for men!
Speaking of Jake, what a brother! During my laborious mowing adventure, he stopped by with a big jug of PowerAde and a 32 oz. Miller High Life!
Now, on to Monday. Work was an absolute nightmare. Every HR problem known to man happened. And then I had to take my Strategic Management final! It was about 8 pages long, and all essay. I took one look at it and developed a migraine. When I had finally rid myself of this class completely, I went home, took some aspirin, and chatted with the MoFo. And once my headache was gone, it was on to the Sleepy Hollow paper again! UGH! I finally finished at 2:30 AM!
On tonight’s agenda - study for tomorrow’s literature exam. I have not studied at all to this point, so tonight will not be a good night. So much to cram! So little time!
I’m ready for some serious relaxation. Sure will be nice to have only work and no classes for a while!
