I’ve had several brushes with fame in recent days. As I mentioned, Legolas works at The Urban Bar. Now I’ve discovered Ray Romano working at Little Caesar on Chapman Highway!
My first encounter with Ray was about a month ago. I got out of class around 9:00 PM, and I was starving! The sound of my rumbling stomach overpowered the country tunes blaring from my car stereo. The drive back from Jefferson City was one of the longest of my life. The only thought on my mind was “I NEED FOOD!” So when I finally made it to South Knoxville, I made a stop at Little Caesar. Witnesses reported only a flash and an eerie breeze as I sprinted to the door. I ordered one of their famous $5 large pepperoni pizzas. What a deal! The guy who rang up my order was a dead ringer for Ray Romano. I found myself laughing as I forked over a handful of dollar bills. “You look just like Ray Romano” I said, to which the guy laughed and replied that he gets that comment all the time.
Fast forward one month. Jake and I decided to go get a cheap pizza and watch an episode of The Shield yesterday. I pulled into the Caesar’s parking lot, and Jake went inside to get the pizza. When he returned a full 2 minutes later, he was laughing. He said, “I started laughing in there when I realized who the guy working in the kitchen looked like.” Before he could say another word, I exclaimed, “Ray Romano!”. You could have heard a pin drop at that moment. Jake looked shocked, as if I had just read every last thought in his mind. And then a second later, laughter erupted from the both of us. I told him my story, and we laughed about it all the way home.
The moral to the story - When it’s a few days till payday, and you have only a few dollars remaining to your name, stop by Little Caesar. And say hi to Ray for me!
