Bad Hair Day

It never fails - the day after a new haircut is always a bad hair day. I got up half an hour earlier than usual this morning so that I’d be able to perform a miracle on my hair. Well, it just wasn’t meant to be. My hair looked so great last night when I left the salon. This morning it was as wild as an untamed beast. As the minutes ticked away, I realized that my options were limited.

a) Pull my hair back into a ponytail
b) Wear a hat
c) Lock myself in my office for the day
d) Just deal with it
e) Call in sick

I attempted Option A, only to realize that some of my hair was too short to be pulled back into the ponytail. My friend John recommended Option B, stating that I should choose a sombrero since I work for a Mexico-based company. The benefits would be two-fold. Not only would the hat hide my hair and probably most of my head, but I could also get away with taking a siesta. Seeing as Walmart was the only store open when I was experiencing this crisis, Option B was quickly ruled out. (Note to self - send a letter to Walmart regarding their very limited - oh wait, it was nonexistent! - selection of sombreros.) By this time, Option C was starting to sound pretty appealing. Then I remembered - auditors! We are currently going through an audit at work, and the auditors have been on my ass from the time I walk in the door until the time I walk out. I decided to save Option D as a last resort, so I moved on to Option E. The auditors again came to mind, so no can do. Process of elimination had left me with one option - just deal with it. And deal with it I have done. Will this day ever end?!

If you’re reading your bulletins, you’re well aware that I am going out tonight. This creates a situation very similar to the one I experienced this morning. Instead of 30 minutes, however, I will have 4 hours between the time I get home and the time I must leave for the show. Hopefully 4 hours will be sufficient! Perhaps I’m asking for trouble, but I intend on curling my hair this evening. And if you guys don’t see me at the show tonight, that means that something went terribly awry.
